In the process of studying sports discourse, it is possible to identify the component of language tools that represent the concept of football in the language system. In our view, this type of discourse is multi-level and includes a number of types of speech (journalists ’speeches, sports commentators’ speeches, and athletes ’speeches). The conceptual basis of modern sports discourse is one of the most important sports concepts for modern culture. An example of this is the concept of football, which is the most important part of the composition of sports discourse today. On the one hand, football is one of the universal elements of the conceptual system as the most popular sport in the world, on the other hand, there is no doubt that today this concept embodies the specific features of language and is more nationalized in the media. The article discusses issues on linguocultural study of the concept of football, modern approaches to the study of cognitive, cultural information in linguistics, and how football is part of modern culture.
