Physical culture and sport as an integral part of general culture have practical content. The article examines the state of physical culture and sport in Russian-language schools of Turkestan in the mid-19th - early 20th centuries, measures taken for their development, the role and importance of physical culture and sport in the education of the younger generation, as well as their social essence.
