This article provides information about the archaeological excavations conducted by the staff of the Khorezm Archaeological-Ethnographic Expedition under the leadership of S.P. Tolstov in the Amu Darya region during the early medieval period. These studies, using archaeological findings excavated during various decades of the 20th century, shed light on the socio-economic and ethno-cultural structures of the society of that era.
