The article highlights an important aspect of working with foreign teachers who study Russian in a language environment. When moving to another country to study, a student faces a number of difficulties not only of a linguistic, but primarily of a social and cultural nature. To date, there are many publications covering the practical experience of working at various universities in the Russian Federation. The paper formulates the main theoretical provisions on the organization of socio-cultural adaptation to determine the essence and functions of the named concept.
