The article comparatively examines animal-name-based metaphors in German and Uzbek from semantic and linguocultural perspectives. It shows how zoonyms express character, social evaluation, intelligence, diligence, cunning, cowardice and rudeness. The findings reveal shared conceptual models in both languages, while the connotative value of some zoonyms differs according to national-cultural experience.
