The article provides a three-stage comparative analysis of the historiography of the formation and development of the public health system in the Uzbek SSR in 1930–1991, focusing on the regional specifics of Surkhandarya region. It compares the conceptual foundations of Soviet historiography, the post-independence national-critical school, and the postcolonial historiography developed by Western scholars.
