Annotatsiya

This article examines anthroponyms as a significant element of literary text, reflecting the ethnocultural characteristics of society. Using works by A.P. Chekhov and M. Zoshchenko, the article analyzes the functions of proper names, their semantic and stylistic meaning, and their role in creating character images. Particular attention is given to a comparative analysis of the anthroponymic systems of pre-revolutionary and Soviet Russia, identifying differences in the linguistic representation of social status, cultural affiliation, and authorial assessment. It is shown that anthroponyms act as an important cultural code, providing a link between language, history, and literature.
