Annotatsiya

This article presents a comparative study of the epistemological views of Confucian philosophy and the religious-educational schools of Central Asia. The Confucian concepts of "zhi" and "zhi zhe" are compared with Central Asian notions of "ilm", "ma'rifat" and "hikmat" in terms of philosophical foundations, sources and purposes of knowledge. Results confirm that both traditions link knowledge with morality, while revealing fundamental differences in sources and ultimate goals of knowledge.
