This scientific article is devoted to identifying the main problems in the development of socio-cultural competence of university students in Uzbekistan through traditional methods of teaching Spanish. The use of traditional teaching methods, although it has its advantages, often does not pay enough attention to the sociocultural aspects of language and culture. This creates cultural and linguistic barriers that make it difficult for students to master the socio-cultural aspects of the Spanish language and limit their opportunities for communication and interaction in a Spanishspeaking environment. Within the framework of this article, the analysis of the main problems faced by students when teaching Spanish is carried out. The main problems include cultural differences, language barriers, lack of practical experience and lack of interactivity in traditional teaching methods. Differences in cultural values and customs between Uzbekistan and Spanish-speaking countries create difficulties in understanding the socio-cultural aspects of the language and culture of the Spanish environment. In addition, language differences and lack of practical experience also make it difficult to master socio-cultural skills. For solving these problems, the author of the article suggests using new methods of teaching Spanish, which take into account the peculiarities of the culture of Uzbekistan and contribute to the development of socio-cultural competence of students. These methods include the organization of extracurricular activities, the use of authentic materials, virtual learning and online resources, the integration of modern technologies, the organization of guest lectures and master classes, and other aspects.
