This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the psychological and social aspects of the tragedy of suicide in English and Uzbek literature, based on the methodology of comparative literary studies. The primary objective of the research is to explore the manifestation of the “toxic life” type in individuals, its intrinsic connection with the concept of decadence, and the complexity of mechanisms for escaping social tragedy. Through examples of suicide tragedies in English and Uzbek literature, the article examines the psychological depth of this motif, the uniqueness of its artistic expression in reflecting the human psyche and personal experiences, as well as its role as a means of escaping social catastrophe. The study further delves into the concept of decadence and its significance in literary-philosophical contexts, offering new scientific insights through the lens of modern literary theories. By integrating various methodological approaches—including psychological analysis, cultural semantics, and comparative literary studies—this research aims to provide a deeper understanding of the complex layers of suicide tragedy within human consciousness and its function as an escape mechanism from social crisis. The findings contribute to the establishment of a strong theoretical foundation for future academic inquiries and offer broader perspectives on the study of suicide motifs in different cultural and literary contexts.
