This article reveals the psychological essence of metacognitive strategies, through which the mechanisms for the development of intellectual abilities are covered. Also, methods of applying metacognitive strategies in the educational process and pedagogical - psychological recommendations are described. In addition, the interaction of metacognition with educational motivation, emotional-regulatory factors and socio-cognitive context has also been analyzed.
