This article provides a scientific analysis of the theoretical-methodologicalfoundations and practical mechanisms for developing students’ creative potential based on acompetency-based approach in fine arts education at higher education institutions. The relevanceof the research is determined by the growing demand for creative-innovative competencies in themodern labor market and the inability of traditional teaching models to meet these requirements.The article presents a four-component competency model developed on the basis of artisticcreative, technical-practical, reflective-communicative, and design-project competencies.
