This article examines the features of the initial procedural actions for verifying statements and reports of suicide and resolving the issue of initiating a criminal case, as the life of a person is at the center of attention of both international and national legislation, as it is a supreme good in itself. Crime involving the intentional encouragement of adolescents to commit suicide is particularly alarming. At the same time, the development and dissemination of information and communication technologies further exacerbate the situation, giving the processes of negative influence speed, accessibility and anonymity. To protect human life, each national legislation uses its own methods and techniques, creating its own, somewhat similar and somewhat different legal norms. The author highlights some features of conducting preliminary procedural actions when verifying reports of suicide and resolving the issue of initiating a criminal case. Also, some procedural actions, in particular, the inspection of the scene, the questioning of witnesses and the appointment of the necessary types of examinations were discussed in detail. Based on the analysis of judicial and investigative practice materials, some tactical errors in the pre-investigation check were identified, and their proposed solutions were put forward.
