This article examines the current situation of forensic handwriting research, and in particular, reveals the methodology for studying handwriting objects made in Latin. The author briefly analyzes the common features and differences in the studies of handwriting objects made in Cyrillic and Latin. The author cited the points of view of well-known forensic handwriting experts in studying the letters of the Latin alphabet. The systematic execution of Latin letters, as well as the identification and description of general and particular features that determine the performer of the manuscript, is also important. The article places great emphasis on identifying general and particular features of manuscripts. It indicates some features of the letters of the Latin alphabet, as well as their identity with the Cyrillic alphabet. Some recommendations are given for improving the methods of studying manuscripts made in Latin.
