The article reveals the issues of studying complex sentences using the example of a defining subordinate clause in the national group of the non-linguistic faculty. We have found that one of the difficulties in studying various subordinate clauses by students of national groups is the insufficient understanding of the basics of the syntax of the Russian language obtained at the previous stage of training. The result of students of national groups of non-linguistic faculties transferring their knowledge of the syntax of the Uzbek language to the studied material of the Russian language is various errors that can be corrected depending on their level of proficiency in the Russian language.
