Annotatsiya

This article presents a comparative analysis of the philosophical and literary visions of Khurshid Dostmuhammad and Albert Camus, with a focus on their integration of philosophical thought and the inner spiritual world of their characters. The primary object of study is Dostmuhammad’s novel The Wise Sisyphus, which introduced new thematic and formal elements into Uzbek literature. As a philosophical novel, it requires an understanding of symbolic and absurdist concepts to grasp its deeper meanings. Particular attention is given to the portrayal of the human psyche, inner states, and existential moods, explored through artistic expression and psychoanalytic interpretation. The article highlights the unique narrative styles of Dostmuhammad and Camus, both of whom explore the psychological dimensions of their characters with distinctive methods. Dostmuhammad, influenced by Eastern-Islamic literary and aesthetic traditions, constructs The Wise Sisyphus using motifs from national folklore and Eastern religious thought, while also incorporating global literary techniques. His depiction of the psyche ranges from symbolic to realistic, underscoring themes of individualism and the absurd. The study draws parallels between Dostmuhammad’s The Wise Sisyphus and Camus’s essay The Myth of Sisyphus, employing sociological, psychological, structural, and comparative-typological methods of analysis.
