In order to increase the durability of TEP-70BS diesel locomotives operating in the Republic of Uzbekistan, this article presents an analysis of failures of their main parts and their causes. Software has been developed to facilitate work in the laboratory when preparing water, to increase the efficiency of using chemical elements added during the preparation of water for the cooling system of diesel locomotives in locomotive depots. The developed program takes into account the requirements and standards of water treatment, and also proposes the option of a water filter added to the cooling system of diesel engines to increase their durability. The advantages and ease of use of this filter indicate the need to introduce a water filter into the cooling system of a diesel locomotive.
