Annotatsiya

This article examines the pedagogical use of interactive methods and innovative teaching approaches to introducing chess fundamentals in secondary schools. Drawing on theoretical and empirical materials, it outlines a sequence combining concept analysis, illustrated piece-identification tasks and independent learning. Practical activities involving position analysis, selection of legal moves and explanation of decisions are supplemented by criteria for assessing pupils’ understanding. The findings clarify how these approaches may support the acquisition of chess knowledge, logical reasoning and independent decision-making. Recommendations address the use of chess tasks in appropriate theoretical components of physical education lessons and extracurricular chess clubs.
