Introduction. With the growing global epidemic of obesity, the importance of studying factors affecting women's health is becoming more relevant. This article investigates the relationship between melatonin levels, body mass index (BMI), percentage of muscle mass and sleep quality in overweight women. Materials and Methods. Fifteen overweight women were included in the study in whom melatonin levels, BMI, percentage of muscle mass and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores were measured. Correlation analysis were used to identify relationships between variables. Results. The results showed that melatonin levels were negatively correlated with BMI (r = -0.765) and positively with percentage of muscle mass (r = 0.601). It was found that participants with higher melatonin levels also exhibited better sleep quality scores as indicated by lower PSQI scores (r = -0.823). Conclusion. This study demonstrates significant relationships between melatonin levels, obesity and sleep quality in women. Given the multifactorial nature of obesity, further research is needed to develop effective treatment and prevention strategies to optimise melatonin levels and improve the overall well-being of overweight women.
