Our results have shown that virus entry into the host cell depends on a process called protein S priming, The S protein binds to the enzyme ACE2 on the plasma membrane of type II pneumocytes. When the immune response is impaired, this can lead to further accumulation of immune cells in the lungs, causing excessive synthesis of proinflammatory cytokines, ultimately leading to damage to the lung structure.In addition, neutralizing antibodies produced by B cells can enhance SARS-CoV-2 infection through antibody-dependent amplification, further exacerbating organ damage.
