Annotatsiya

This article examines differences in the economic development ofUzbekistan’s regions using official data for 2025 and the first half of 2026. Itdistinguishes gross regional product (GRP), which measures economic scale, from realgrowth rates. Tashkent city leads in both output volume and growth in the periodsconsidered, while several regions recorded rapid growth from a smaller base. Thearticle argues that aggregate GRP should be complemented by per capita output,employment, productivity, and income indicators. It proposes a place-sensitive regionalpolicy focused on local strengths, value chains, human capital, and transport and digitalconnectivity.
