Institutional and theoretical foundations of managing tourism structural frameworks

Annotatsiya

In the current context of tourism’s growing role in the national economy, an in-depth scientific analysis of the institutional foundations is required for the effective governance of its structural elements. The purpose of this article is to analyze the institutional-theoretical foundations of governing tourism structural elements, specifically Douglass North’s theory of "new institutional economics" and Oliver Williamson’s theory of "transaction costs," and to substantiate their practical relevance for the tourism sector. Methods of theoretical-methodological analysis and comparative approach were applied in the study. As a result, the author’s definition of the concept of "tourism structural configuration" was formulated, and a four-component model of this structural configuration was developed. Based on the results of the research, the methodological differences between North’s and Williamson’s theories were identified, and the institutional-organizational basis component, which bridges the gap between them, was scientifically substantiated. The findings serve as a theoretical and methodological basis for the institutional improvement of Uzbekistan’s tourism sector.
