This article analyzes the historical formation, diachronic development, and semantic features of design (costume) terminology, aswell as the problems of its translation between the Uzbek and English languages. During the research, the linguistic nature, semantictransformation, and linguocultural aspects of terms such as kostyum (costume), libos (garment/attire), garderob (wardrobe), anduslub (style) were scientifically examined. Additionally, neologisms emerging as a result of the development of the fashion industryand the challenges of translating them were studied from a comparative perspective
