English loanwords in contemporary uzbek: adaptation, functions, and linguistic impact

Annotatsiya

This article examines the adaptation, functions, and linguistic impact of English loanwords in contemporary Uzbek. It analyzes their phonetic, orthographic, morphological, and semantic adaptation, as well as their use in technology, education, business, media, and digital communication. The study shows that English borrowings increasingly integrate into Uzbek grammar through suffixation and hybrid constructions. While they enrich the Uzbek lexicon and facilitate international communication, they also raise issues of terminology standardization and language planning. The article argues that English loanwords should be viewed as a dynamic component of contemporary Uzbek language development.
