The article examines the theoretical and linguistic foundations for a comprehensive study of Arabisms in the lexical system of the Karakalpak language. It analyzes the historical pathways of Arabic lexical borrowing, the role of intermediary languages, and the phonetic, morphological, and semantic adaptation of Arabic-derived units. The findings demonstrate that Arabisms were gradually integrated into Karakalpak in accordance with its internal linguistic patterns rather than being mechanically transferred. The study substantiates the need for a comprehensive approach to identifying the origin of borrowings by considering etymology, historical context, structural changes, and the contemporary functioning of lexical units.
