Quantitative morphometric analysis of the palatine tonsil in children of the first childhood period (4–7 years) under physiological normal conditions

Annotatsiya

The aim of the study was to determine the morphometric parameters of the palatine tonsil in clinically healthy children of the first childhood period (4–7 years) and to assess the presence of gender differences in the indicators of the lymphoepithelial apparatus. A histological and morphometric study of the palatine tonsils of 20 children aged 4–7 years (10 boys and 10 girls) without signs of inflammatory pathology was carried out. The specimens were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. As a result of the study, the obtained data revealed no statistically significant differences between boys and girls. Thus, in children aged 4–7 years, the palatine tonsil is characterized by high functional activity of the lymphoid tissue, a well-developed crypt apparatus, and minimal stromal-fibrotic changes. These features correspond to the age-related stage of mucosal immunity formation.
