This article analyzes the process of studying the history of medical science and the stages of its formation and development from a historiographical perspective. It examines the emergence of scholarly research on the history of medicine and the historical study of medical institutions, scientific schools, medical education, and research activities during different periods. The article also analyzes the main sources, scholarly approaches, and methodological principles employed in studies on the history of medicine and identifies the distinctive features of research in this field across different historical periods. Particular attention is paid to the priority areas of the contemporary stage in the study of the history of medical science and to current issues in historiography.
