The present article is dedicated to the problem of interconnection and mutual influence of literatures, which are reviewed here as an important factor in the cultural development of peoples. In particular, it traces the acquaintance of Europeans with the rich literature in Arabic through translations and familiarization with its historical and artistic experience, images and motifs.
