A comparative analysis of amputation methods at the shin level in patients with diabetic foot syndrome and signs of critical ischemia revealed significant findings. The improved technique of myoplastic amputation, involving the removal of the m. soleus muscle, resulted in a notable reduction in operative time, a decreased risk of intraoperative wound contamination, and a sharp decline in postoperative wound infections at the amputation stump. The incidence of postoperative infections dropped from 22.5% to 7.2% of cases.
