Based on the use of monographic research methods and analytical analysis, as well as using data from numerous scientific and historical sources, the article reflects the stages of formation and development of the cadastral system as one of the most important organizational events of today's society: in particular, the first attempts to keep records of land plots, their assessment in ancient Mesopotamia, China and Egypt, as the most important cadastral activities, attempts to graphically display cadastral information in the form of clay tables are given; it is noted that for the first time the word “cadastre” appeared and was used in everyday life in Rome during the reign of Augustus, at the initial stage it looked like a book on the registration of taxable land plots; the first research works of Xenophon and Theophrastus on the need for a comparative assessment of land plots, as one of the important components of the cadastre, the first attempts at textual and graphical display of the cadastral data of Ancient Rome and some recommendations for this by Servius Tulius are given; the results of the creation of the Roman cadastre in the Middle Ages, as subsequently serving as an example for most European countries in the creation and development of their cadastral systems, individual and important moments in the creation of the cadastral system in Russia and Uzbekistan, its place and role in the development of the Russian state and Central Asia; a special place is given to the development of the land cadastre and other cadastral activities carried out in the twentieth century; specific proposals and scientific and practical recommendations are given to improve the creation and development of a unified system of state cadastres, formed after gaining independence and choosing a market path for economic and social development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
