This article analyzes the assessment of green bonds as a sustainable financial instrument and their role in thestock market. The role of these bonds in financing environmental projects through financial markets, in particular stockmarkets, in the process of transition to a green economy is revealed. The article studies investment activity related togreen bonds in international and domestic stock markets, investor needs and decision-making processes based onESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) criteria. A detailed analysis of this financial instrument in the market is alsoconducted based on its liquidity level, risk and return indicators. Based on the results of the study, theoretical and practicalrecommendations are developed on the opportunities and existing problems of green bonds in ensuring sustainabledevelopment.
