This article is devoted to a brief overview of the results of scientific studies published in recent years on the risk factors for the development of ischemic heart disease, including the importance of smoking. It details the prevalence, clinical features, and course of ischemic heart disease among elderly patients. Particular attention is paid to recent data on the effects of passive smoking on cardiovascular health.
