Ushbu maqolada Charlz Dikensning Buyuk umidlar romani misolida insoniylik, axloqiy poklik va jamiyatdagi ijtimoiy zaifliklar masalalari tahlil qilinadi. Asosiy e’tibor Abel Magvich obraziga qaratilgan bo‘lib, u ijtimoiy marginal holatga tushirilgan, biroq o‘z ichki fazilatlari orqali boshqa qahramonlar, xususan Pip hayotida o‘zgarishlar yuzaga keltiradi. Magvichning soddalik, mehr-oqibat, fidoyilik va altruizm kabi xususiyatlari orqali Dikens ijtimoiy adolat va axloqiy o‘sish mavzularini ochib beradi. Maqola Dikensning axloqiy-estetik idealini ijtimoiy, psixologik va simbolik kontekstda yoritadi.
