Modern methods of early diagnosis of infectious dermatoses

Relevance. Infectious dermatoses remain one of the most widespread groups of skin diseases and are characterized by high clinical polymorphism, a tendency towards chronicity and a considerable risk of diagnostic errors in the early stages of the disease. Untimely diagnosis of infectious skin lesions leads to the development of complications, the irrational prescription of therapy and an increase in epidemiological risks, which determines the need to improve modern diagnostic approaches. Aim. Analysis and assessment of modern methods of early diagnosis of infectious dermatoses in order to increase the accuracy and timeliness of making a diagnosis. Materials and methods. An analytical and systematic review of domestic and foreign scientific publications for 2014–2024 was carried out, selected from the PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, eLIBRARY and Google Scholar databases. Original clinical studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses and clinical guidelines were included in the analysis. Methods of analysis, systematization and comparative assessment of the diagnostic informativeness of modern laboratory, molecular-genetic and instrumental methods were used. Results. It was established that traditional laboratory methods of diagnosing infectious dermatoses possess limited sensitivity in the early stages of the disease. The greatest diagnostic effectiveness is demonstrated by molecular-genetic methods, which are characterized by high sensitivity and specificity, as well as by non-invasive instrumental methods that make it possible to carry out early differential diagnosis of skin lesions. The most optimal results are achieved with the comprehensive application of clinical assessment together with modern laboratory and instrumental methods of diagnosis. Conclusion. A comprehensive diagnostic approach using modern laboratory, molecular-genetic and instrumental methods makes it possible to increase the accuracy of the early diagnosis of infectious dermatoses, to reduce the frequency of diagnostic errors and to optimize the tactics of patient management.
