Modern concepts of the occurrence of atopic dermatitis, based on clinical, laboratory, biochemical and experimental studies, do not fully reveal the mechanisms of the development of the pathological process, which makes it difficult to devise the most effective measures for the treatment and prevention of this disease. Therefore the study of water and electrolyte metabolism and of vitamin D in the body of sick children with atopic dermatitis is at present acquiring particular relevance.
