A study of the spatial stress-strain state of earth dams under static loads using the finite element method

This article presents the spatial computational scheme, the mathematical model, the calculation method and the algorithm for solving problems of assessing the stress-strain state (SSS) of the Jidalisoy earth dams, which have complex geometric parameters, under the action of their own weight and the hydrostatic pressure of water, on the basis of the Lagrange-d'Alembert variational principle. Using the universal Abaqus software, numerical calculations were carried out to study the spatial stress-strain state of an earth dam taking into account the structural features of the facility, and the results are presented. On the basis of the results obtained it is shown that the study of the SSS of the Jidalisoy earth dam with complex geometric parameters under static loads must be carried out only by means of spatial models of the structure.
