A bone fracture is a violation of the integrity of bone tissue caused by the action of an external or internal force on the bone. A sprain of the ligaments of the ankle joint is one of the most common injuries among athletes. Physically active people who take part in activities requiring jumping, changes of the direction of movement and intensive turns of the body have an increased risk of sprains of the ankle joint ligaments. Sprains of the ankle joint ligaments and the repeated injuries often associated with this condition can lead to long-term disability, loss of time from activity and a financial burden for athletes.
