Prevention of complications in the surgery of postoperative hernias of the anterior abdominal wall

Annotatsiya

This article discusses the most important aspects of the problem of complications in the surgery of postoperative hernias of the anterior abdominal wall. The most pressing issues of modern herniology and its socio-economic aspects are outlined. Methods of preventing complications in the preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative periods are considered. In describing the methods of preoperative prediction and prevention of complications, modern classifications and integral scales of patient status indicators are analysed, and the advantages and disadvantages of modern methods of preoperative preparation are indicated. The section devoted to the intraoperative period presents the main modern methods of hernioplasty using mesh implants and their features. Much attention is paid to describing the variants of operations depending on the placement of the mesh in relation to the hernial orifice and the anatomical layers of the abdominal wall, and to evaluating the types of mesh implants and their selection for a specific clinical situation. The principles of one of the promising areas of abdominal surgery — the separation methods of hernioplasty — are considered. In analysing the methods of postoperative prevention of hernias, emphasis is placed on describing the principles of the fast-track technology, which is widely used in various fields of surgery and is gaining popularity in herniology.
