The article provides a review of national and world literature data on the pathophysiological and aetiological connection between the formation of hernias of the anterior abdominal wall and diseases of the prostate gland and the organs of the scrotum (varicocele, cryptorchidism). According to various authors, the incidence of inguinal hernias after an operation on the prostate gland occurs in 4.8-23.9%. Performing videoendoscopic operations significantly reduces the risk of inguinal hernias. Thorough diagnosis makes it possible to detect subclinical forms of hernias of the anterior abdominal wall and to reduce the proportion of postoperative hernias.
