This article discusses the clinical presentation, etiopathogenesis and diagnosis of hiatal hernias, which today are one of the most pressing problems not only in surgery but also in medicine as a whole, as well as the effectiveness and shortcomings of various surgical treatment methods. The basis of the scientific research consists of the diagnostic and various surgical treatment tactics applied to 104 patients treated for gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernias in the endosurgery department of the Samarkand City Medical Association and in the oncosurgery departments of the State Institution Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Surgery named after Academician V. Vakhidov.
