Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune disease, caused by the production of special antibodies to the neuromuscular synapse. Myasthenia gravis shows different epidemiological indicators in different countries, showing 2.17 to 32 cases per 100,000 population. Different epidemiologic indicators showed different prevalence and mortality rates in different regions. In the last decade, various authors have reported an increase in disease rates in all age groups. Despite the fact that the disease is often observed in young people, the latest data show that the disease may debut in people over 50 years old, especially in the elderly.
