The concept of metaphor in linguistics

Annotatsiya

This article discusses the concept of metaphor in linguistics and its role in language and human thinking. While metaphor was traditionally seen as a stylistic device mainly used in literature, modern studies, especially in Cognitive Linguistics, show that it is also an important part of everyday communication. The article reviews the development of metaphor theory, the structure and functions of metaphor, and the role of conceptual metaphor in understanding abstract ideas. It also highlights the linguistic and cultural aspects of metaphor and explains its significance in modern linguistic research.
