Annotatsiya

This article explores the theory of textual cohesion in classical rhetorical heritage with particular emphasis on the role of apposition (Al-Badal) as a cohesive linguistic device. The study analyzes how traditional Arabic rhetoric and grammar contributed to the development of textual unity and semantic coherence through syntactic and stylistic mechanisms. Special attention is given to Al-Badal as an important grammatical structure that strengthens semantic relations between textual elements, clarifies meaning, avoids ambiguity, and ensures continuity within discourse. The research also examines the functional and rhetorical significance of apposition in classical texts, demonstrating its contribution to cohesion, eloquence, and communicative effectiveness. By investigating rhetorical heritage from a modern linguistic perspective, the article highlights the relevance of classical grammatical concepts to contemporary discourse analysis and text linguistics.
