Clinical data support this approach. Cardiovascular involvement in the form of decreased baroreflex sensitivity and indices derived from heart rate variability, as well as mood disorders, common comorbidities in RA patients, has been associated with autonomic nervous system dysfunction, which in turn is affected by increased levels of circulating pro-inflammatory substances. cytokines. This descriptive review provides an overview of the autonomic nervous system and association with RA, discusses most of the common heart and mental health comorbidities associated with RA, and their potential association with systemic and joint inflammation.
