This article analyzes the issue of semantic gradation between synonyms in Uzbek synonym dictionaries from a methodological point of view. The article analyzes the theoretical foundations of semantic gradation, that is, the methodological, emotional-expressive and lexical-semantic criteria that determine the differences in meaning between synonymous words. The hierarchy of synonyms and their role in the lexical system, their functional capabilities, and meth- odological approaches to dictionary creation are also studied. These methodological principles provide a scientifically sound and practical approach to the creation of synonym dictionaries.
