Annotatsiya

This article explores the linguistic and cultural classification of information- analytical terms related to journalistic genres in both English and Uzbek. Drawing on comparative linguistics, cultural semiotics, and media discourse theory, the study examines how the terminological systems of these two typologically and culturally distinct languages reflect differing journalistic traditions, socio-political histories, and communicative norms. The article puts forward a multi-tiered taxonomy that organizes such terms according to their functional-communicative role, degree of cultural embeddedness, structural formation, and translational equivalence. Through corpus-based analysis and a contrastive examination of genre-specific terminology, the article demonstrates that Uzbek journalistic terminology has undergone considerable transformation under the dual influence of Soviet-era linguistic norms and post-independence language modernization, while English maintains a historically well- established yet continuously evolving terminological canon. The findings make meaningful contributions to the fields of terminography, cross-cultural journalism studies, and translation pedagogy.
