Annotatsiya

This article examines the experience of introducing archaeological heritage into scientific circulation through the example of the Samarkand region, one of the most significant historical and cultural territories of Uzbekistan. The study aims to evaluate the accumulated regional practice of recording, preserving, cataloguing, publishing, and interpreting archaeological materials, as well as to identify the main achievements and problems in this field. Archaeological heritage is understood in the article as a particularly fragile and non-renewable layer of material cultural heritage, encompassing archaeological sites, archaeological objects, and movable finds. A central argument of the study is that the scientific value of archaeological materials depends not only on the object itself, but also on its stratigraphic, spatial, and functional context. For this reason, the introduction of archaeological heritage into scientific circulation must be regarded not as a simple act of describing individual artefacts, but as a complex process involving documentation, contextual interpretation, conservation.
