This article examines the specific features of the perception of sociocultural realia by students of national groups studying in philological universities. The study focuses on the mechanisms of interpreting culturally marked elements, the influence of national experience, the level of proficiency in Russian, and the role of the educational environment. It also considers the classification of sociocultural realia, typical difficulties in their comprehension, and contemporary methodological strategies for teaching them. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to improve the sociocultural and interpretive competence of learners in the context of intercultural communication. The object of the study is the process of perceiving sociocultural realia by students of national groups, while the subject is the linguocultural, cognitive, and methodological features of their interpretation in the process of learning Russian. The aim of the study is to identify the specific features of the perception of sociocultural realia and to determine methodological conditions that facilitate their effective teaching. The results show that successful interpretation of such units depends on a combination of cultural, cognitive, linguistic, and methodological factors. It is concluded that the most effective approaches include cultural commentary, comparative analysis, text-centered instruction, and the use of visual and contextualized materials.
