The National Archives of Uzbekistan (formerly the Central State Archives of the Republic of Uzbekistan) contains a significant number of archival documents from the Second World War. The national archival administration, despite the difficult military conditions, paid special attention to the acquisition of event archival funds. In particular, starting in 1942, the archivists of the republic have done a large-scale work to collect and form a separate archival fund of Front-line letters. The inventory of the archival fund was compiled in 1948. Thus, the letters from the front concentrated in the fund, reflect the heroic deeds of the people during the war. Nevertheless, as the analysis in domestic historiography shows, the private correspondence of front-line soldiers and eyewitnesses of the war are rarely used in the research and therefore it is a poorly studied aspect of the history of Uzbekistan.
