This article analyzes the archaeological sites located in the territory of Kokand city and the study of the city's history during various historical periods. The first scientific information about the ancient ruins of Kokand began to emerge in the late 19th century. During this period, the first descriptions of Kokand’s historical monuments were written, but scientific archaeological research had not yet expanded. Today, Kokand’s archaeological sites, including its fortress, ancient city walls, and other architectural monuments, are being studied through archaeological research. Archaeologists are bringing new knowledge to science about Kokand’s historical significance, including its interactions not only with the Uzbek people but also with other Central Asian nations, as well as Kokand’s cultural heritage. The archaeological study of the city helps to better understand its history and provides insights into the significance of this region during ancient and medieval times.
